About
Welcome, I am Sarah, a children’s Play Therapist, registered with the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT), a register that is accredited with the Professional Standards Authority.
As a Child Centred Play Therapist my approach is mainly Non-Directive Play Therapy, informed by trauma based and child development theory. If, however it is in the interest of the child I will take an integrative focused approach.
Prior to becoming a Play Therapist, I taught Child Development and Early Years to College Students and then changed career from teaching to health.
I have over 20 years’ experience of working with children and families as a Paediatric Nurse and appointed CAMHS nurse within an acute Paediatric setting with the NHS.
Working within the NHS has allowed me to work in the Paediatric Oncology Ward, Marie Curie Hospice and the Harvey Jones Specialist Clinic for children and young people with eating disorders.
Working with children and their families has continued as a Flying Start Health Visitor and currently as a Nurse Specialist for Looked After Children within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
